Veterans Affairs Medical Center

West Roxbury, MA

Project Timeframe: 2014-2015

Veterans Affairs Medical Center

Triad Consulting & System Design Group (Triad Consulting) as a specialty sub consultant to technology consultant FTG Technologies, Inc. (FTG) and prime engineering firm Woodard & Curran was retained to provide security consulting and security system design and construction administration support for the upgrade and enhancement of physical and electronic security systems (ESS) at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) West Roxbury campus.

The project phases consist of conceptual design, schematic design, design development, construction document, construction oversight, and record drawing.

Triad Consulting along with FTG conducted information gathering interviews and a thorough site survey of VAMC’s external grounds, internal buildings and existing security systems and associated infrastructure. The accumulated information was then used to create a conceptual design report including a needs and gap analysis, recommendations and budgets for meeting the client-specified goals and Veterans Administration ESS design requirements. Of special consideration in the report were recommendations for the redesign of the police facility and mailroom as well as vehicular and pedestrian screening procedures. A thorough CPTED review of the site was also conducted.

Triad Consulting is currently in the design process for upgrade of the medical center’s access control, video surveillance, intrusion alarm, security intercom systems and physical security features including barriers, gates, fencing, and protective bollards.

Design of the project will be completed during 2015.
